CLIENT: Department of Alternetive Energy Development
and Efficiency
DURATION: 15 Months
The Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) is aware of the problem of solid waste management, especially in Bangkok. The solid waste is mostly disposed in sanitary landfills and some is used to produce compost.
There are several approaches to solid waste management. One method is to produce energy by using an anaerobic digestion system to generate biogas; this mitigates the problem of incorrect solid waste disposal and builds public awareness about solid waste separation. After careful evaluation, the Marketing Organization for Farmers Market or Or Tor Kor Market was selected as the site to build a prototype biogas plant on a plot of 200 m2. Two ton of food waste, vegetable waste, and organic waste is fed into the system. At the end of the line, generated gas is supplied to the market’s canteen’s kitchen. TEAM GROUP was involved in the preparation of conceptual and actual plans, methodology and procedure, study, survey, and selection of fresh food markets, design of the biogas production system, and promoting public relations regarding system archetypes.
