Maintenance, improve and increase efficiency of the automatic remote water monitoring system in the Yom and Nan river basins Projects

Client : Department of Water Resources

Amidst the challenges of natural disasters such as droughts and floods, effective water resource management plays a key role in the nation’s development and the security of its people.

The Department of Water Resources recognizes this importance and is advancing the “Repair, Upgrade, and Optimization of the Automatic Remote Water Monitoring System in the Yom and Nan River Basins” project, which aims to modernize the existing system that has been in use since 2011. This project will improve accuracy and expand the coverage of the system, focusing on the Yom and Nan river basins, which are vital in northern Thailand.

This project is not just a repair effort, but also involves installing and upgrading new equipment and technologies, including:

  • 15 remote stations will measure rainfall water level (discharge) including CCTV camera.
  • 7 remote stations will measure rainfall.
  • Mathematical models
  • Decision Supporting System

These systems will work together like a “pineapple eye” to monitor water conditions in real time, enabling rapid and accurate forecasting and disaster warnings. The monitoring stations will be installed in both the main river basins and tributaries, covering key community areas such as the Yom and Nan rivers, as well as vulnerable urban economic zones.
